Sonic Spit Experience
What happens when you combine persimmons ripening on a tree high in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and a festive gathering of friends and family? A persimmon seed spitting contest of course! In order to celebrate this occasion in the Autumn of 2014, my collaborator Lauren Neal and I decided to commemorate the occasion with an audio piece. Below you will find the result, which I call the Sonic Spit Experience. To make this piece, we asked as many attendees of the spit as possible what they see, hear, feel, and taste. What results is an undulating sensorially situated audio piece that is best enjoyed while wearing headphones on your back in the grass with eyes on the sky.
